Hello 👋
I go by TinyTinfoil on GitHub
I’m currently hoping to grow my experience in mixed signal semiconductors and alternative analog computing, but as of right now I bring expertise in mixed signal PCB design and firmware development for ARM microcontrollers, particularly STM32s, through my prior work. In particular, I’ve worked in scenarios where I’ve had to chase extremely low noise performance from cost effective manufacturing and parts.
You can find more info about me in my GitHub profile and about page
Projects
Acoustic probe design
Did microsoldering on microphones and speakers to help reach acoustic specs for a hearing screening device
Microbial Fuel Cells
Made microbial fuel cells containing Geobacter to generate electricity from mud!
Mixed signal ASIC development
Designing low noise mixed signal ADCs using the SKY130 process, as well as mentoring another undergraduate student in chip design.
‟Homemade” semiconductors
Made semiconductors from scratch, using Whisk drain cleaner to etch wafers and making our own dopants with phosphoric acid and TEOS, plus equipment from the on-campus MatSci lab (tube furnace and hotplates).
Self Balancing Robot
Created and used PID and active controls on a self balancing upright robot, using physics first principles and signal processing concepts like pole-zero cancellation.
Gesture recognition on a wearable armband
Developed custom software to perform gesture recognition from data collected on an EMG armband at near real time speeds using machine learning classifiers.
DIY sphere robots (spheros)
Was responsible for making the charging system of a DIY Sphero for a mechatronics class and helping out on the electronics. Overall, a very fun project.
LIDAR pathfinding robot
Developed custom gradient descent algorithms to perform obstacle detection and avoidance for a small LIDAR robot.
Set Finder
Used machine learning and image processing techniques with Python, NumPy, SciKit, and OpenCV in order to identify sets from the card game Set, and built a simple GUI for it in Tk/Tcl.
Hopper design
Made a hopping mechanical device using mostly biodegradable materials and jointery, from sketches to CAD in SolidWorks to laser cutting and assembly.
DBF
Part of the electrical team of Design Build Fly, Olin’s RC plane group. Responsible for specking motors and propellers for the plane.
Ultimate Raspberry Pi server
Implemented a seafile storage, nginx config, MariaDB database, a phpforums site, a wordpress site, a regular html site, a minecraft server, and a browser based web vnc remoting solution into one raspberry pi.
